ABP Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management
Duration: 1 year
Study Mode: Full time

At a time when global economies are in difficulties, the ABP Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management represents an excellent, cost-effective opportunity to demonstrate talent and ability.

ABP is a sister organisation of the world renowned Association of Business Executives (ABE) and their qualifications reflect the very latest industry and occupational standards. www.abpuk.com

ABP's dedicated team of syllabus and assessment writers include highly-qualified, experienced UK university academics, many of whom also possess significant industrial experience.

At CGC, the Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management is taught in smaller class groups with dynamic and experienced staff.
The Postgraduate Diploma is accredited at the National Qualification Framework (NQF) level 7 and this provides students with the opportunity to carry out their own research and reading, which is the practice at Masters’ level (Level 7).

It comprises five units:
  • Strategic Business Management and Planning
  • Organisational Resource Management
  • Management of Financial Resources and Performance
  • Leadership and Change Management
  • Corporate Management in Action
Assessment

Each unit requires two pieces of assessed work:
  • an examination
  • an assignment
To pass the unit requires a pass mark of 50% or above in both pieces of assessed work.

For example, achieving a mark of 70% in one piece of work and 35% in the other will not qualify for a pass. Re-sits of any assessment that is not passed will be permitted.

Entry Criteria

"The way the course is taught means that you are encouraged to think creatively and find innovative solutions to everyday challenges"

Viviane Chaves, Brazil
A student must fulfill at least one of the following criteria to be allowed entry to the programme:
  • Possession of the ABE's Advanced Diploma in Business Management or Business Administration (note that a student may progress to the Postgraduate Diploma if he/she has one unit of the Advanced Diploma yet to be passed, but cannot be awarded the Postgraduate Diploma until subsequently passing the remaining Advanced Diploma unit)
  • Possession of an ABE Advanced Diploma in another subject
  • Possession of an honours degree in a related subject
  • Possession of a level 6 qualification from another internationally recognised awarding body
  • Five years senior management experience (students must check with CGC regarding this experience prior to registering for the course)
Progression

The ABP Postgraduate Diploma in Business Management equivalent to level 7 on the National Qualification Framework (NQF). The qualification provides a route for students to gain advanced entry to a Masters degree at UK universities.

It is therefore an ideal progression route for those who:
  • are currently studying professional qualifications and wish to proceed to a Masters degree in business/management
  • have a related degree but wish to proceed to a Masters level business/management qualification
  • are in employment, at managerial level, and wish to achieve a Masters level qualification
Employment

Given that, wherever possible, ABP qualifications are based on the very latest occupational standards, holders of ABP qualifications should be confident that they have acquired knowledge, skills and understanding desired by industry and that they will be well-placed to meet the needs of potential employers.

Study

Holders of ABP Level 7 Postgraduate Diploma in Management and Business Administration will be given 80 credits from Masters’ programmes awarded by the University of Worcester.
