Administrative Management (IAM)
Duration: 2 Years

Institute of Administrative Management (IAM) is perceived by many as an exam board with a fresh and original approach. The course content reflects the exam board's ethos that information is central to the effective running of any organisation. The lowest level of this course is equivalent to a management and administration NVQ level 4, and is widely recognised as a valuable asset.

IAM Introductory Award and Certificate Syllabus
Duration: 6 Months

Assessment
Assessment of this qualification is in two parts:
  1. Multiple Choice Examination
  2. Creation of a Learning Diary that records evidence of skills for employment as well as academic achievements

Students are required to register with the Institute to receive their award. It is not necessary to become a member of the IAM.

Assessment
There are two parts to the assessment for this qualification:
  1. Creation of a reflective learning diary related to the learning outcomes of each Unit that records evidence of skills for employment as well as academic achievements
  2. Project Report of between 2000 and 2500 which must evidence application of learning from the programme syllabus and achievement of the overall Award learning outcomes

Duration: 6 Months

This qualification is designed to help you:

  • IAM Certificate or
  • 2 years relevant experience or

Assessment
The units are assessed by a three hour unseen written paper comprising two sections A and B. Section A has eight compulsory short answer questions designed to test candidates’ knowledge and understanding of concepts and terminology. Section B has a choice of two questions from four designed to assess the candidate’s appreciation of the unit. A question will be set from each of the area Learning Syllabus.
The work based project is assessed through a 3,000 word report to a senior manager.

Advanced Diploma in Adminstrative Management
Duration: 1 Year
About the IAM Advanced Diploma in Administrative Management As an Administrator or Manager in business, government, service industries, education, charities or industry, you may be interested to hear about a programme specifically designed to enhance your existing skills and support your future progression at work. The Level 5 Advanced Diploma in Administrative Management qualification will develop, enhance and recognise your ability to:
  • demonstrate a high level of expertise within your existing role
  • increase the depth of knowledge you possess in the subject areas essential to this role
  • enhance your understanding of issues within the workplace
  • enable formulation of solutions and responses to complex problems and situations
  • show competence in managing and training others
  • maximise your personal development and equip you for promotion
Entry Criteria
  • IAM Diploma / IAM DAEA or
  • Associate of the IAM or
  • NVQ Level 4 (in a related subject) or
  • A levels or
  • UK Degree / HNC/ HND or
  • Equivalent International Qualifications

Assessment
The units are assessed by a 3 hour closed book examination. The paper comprises of a choice of 4 questions from 8, designed to assess the depth and breadth of candidates’ knowledge of the unit.
