The Student Services supports all students at the College, and helps you to
have a successful and enjoyable time while you are here. The Student
Services run a 'drop-in' advisory service, where students are welcome to
seek information and advice on any issue that is affecting them, in
confidence. Common topics that students seek advice on include cultural
adaptation and homesickness, employment regulations, healthcare, and
support for the families of students.
We welcome feedback on the services we offer, so please do not hesitate to
let us know if you think it could be improved in any way. We can explain to
you and help you understand a housing contract and we have a range of
leaflets and booklets on issues such as pregnancy and contraception,
lesbian, gay and bisexual issues, harassment and bullying. All of these are
freely available, just drop in to see us!

The local Citizens Advice Bureau can give you information on your rights in consumer and legal issues.
Some students go through difficult periods during their time here and this may affect your performance in an assessment. You can come and discuss the difficulties you may have had and the affect of these on your performance. We can help you appeal for a review of your results.
The Students' Services Officer can help you with your appeal and represent you at an appeal panel hearing. The information and advice we may provide is confidential, non-judgemental and free. If we are unable to help, then we will try our hardest to get you in touch with people who can help you.

| STUDENT SUPPORT SERVICES |
 |
As a student of Central Greenwich College, you will be able to make use of our comprehensive list of professional contacts to assist you with any problems that may occur during your stay. Depending on the culture you are from, you may be more used to turning to family and friends for support and advice when necessary.
However, in the UK it is normal practice to seek advice from trained professionals if you encounter a problem, or if you need someone non-judgemental and understanding to talk in confidence with. Below are details of our Student Support Services’ and Equal Opportunities Policy. Please do not hesitate to make use of any of these services – they are there for your benefit.
You may have difficulties with your course and studies, or problems with your accommodation and living arrangements. It might be that you are having a difficulty organizing your time for revision or that you are finding it difficult to balance a part time job with your studies. We can find ways of helping and administering access to appropriate learning support and personal care.
We may also be able to organise the loan of equipment e.g. dictaphones, tape recorders, wheelchairs, portable hearing systems and arrange support for lecture access. Some forms of support may be costly, scarcer to resource, harder to set up, or dependent on funding. Unfortunately, international students are not entitled to the UK government allowances for students with disabilities.
The College will make every effort to help you, however, you or your sponsors may be asked to fund resources or equipment that may be identified in an assessment of your needs, and which are in addition to those outlined above. Examples of the services that may need additional funding for include:
Where additional costs are involved, this will be notified to you as soon as possible, to help you decide about your College application. If you need further information please contact us:

Students with Disabilities
We are very happy to receive applications from disabled students and encourage you to contact us before making a formal application to the College, so that we can fully understand your requirements and inform you of our ability to meet them.

English Language Support
Even though you may have very good English language ability, you may find that you cannot always understand what people are saying. This may be due to people talking very fast or due to regional accents. Do not be embarrassed to ask people to repeat what they have said more slowly, or to ask for an explanation if you find something confusing. You may have difficulty expressing yourself and find that some people struggle to understand your accent. For advice on how to improve this situation, contact Student Services
